1 ½ c. boiling water
1 c. oatmeal
½ c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 ½ c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
Glaze
¾ cube of butter
¾ c. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. milk
½ c. coconut
½ c. walnuts, chopped
Pour boiling water over oats and let stand for 20 minutes. Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add to oats. Sift dry ingredients, then add to oats. Pour batter into greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Mix glaze ingredients and pour over warm cake.
